BIOGRAPHY: Michelle A. B. Gallegos


Michelle Gallegos is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Upon graduation, she was elected Scholar of the Year by the Department of Education. She earned her Masters of Science in Literacy from Walden University. Michelle was awarded the Walden University Service Fellowship for her dedication to positive social change and development in literacy. She is also a two-time nominee for the National Disney Teacher of the Year award. She is recognized in the Cambridge Who?s Who of Executives and Professionals in the Field of Teaching and Professional Development. She has been a dedicated classroom teacher for intermediate and elementary students for the past 22 years. Michelle currently works as a writing support teacher with both teachers and students in the Cherry Creek School District in Colorado. In addition, she serves on the District Advisory Team for Twice Exceptional Students. A writer herself, Michelle is also a long-standing member of the Denver-based writing group: Voices of Women.

Preparing to Write: Layers of Success is a six-day workshop series of which Michelle is the sole creator, author and presenter. Her copyrighted manual becomes the essential reference material to support student writing instruction across all content areas. It aligns with any and all building and district curriculums. Ms. Gallegos is able to garner high trust with educators and encourages risk-taking while delivering her passionate message: ?Honor and develop every student?s voice.?

She travels extensively to work with education professionals. Michelle has worked with students and teachers in grades K-12; her strategies and techniques distinctly improve students? abilities to write, read, think, and speak. This process offers students equal access to improvement regardless of their unique abilities and/or challenges.

Michelle resides in Colorado with her husband, two children, two dogs, two geckos, and a fish.
